Colby Nelson is a Baltimore-based Social Media Specialist at Truth Initiative in Washington, DC, with a passion for storytelling and digital culture. With a background in Media and Communications, he developed an early fascination with the rise of social media and the way it connects communities, shapes culture, and spreads stories across the world.

Outside of his professional work, Colby created Colbyineffect, a platform where he explores sports and sneaker history through storytelling. His work focuses on highlighting the cultural impact of sports and fashion while uncovering overlooked moments and the individuals who helped shape these industries.

A lifelong athlete who grew up playing basketball, football, golf, and running track, Colby once avoided distance running at all costs. In 2025, he decided to challenge himself by taking it on — a decision that quickly became one of the most rewarding experiences of his life. That mindset of stepping outside comfort zones continues to shape both his work and the way he approaches growth.

Guided by values of faith, family, kindness, and love, Colby believes in lifting others up and encouraging people to pursue things they once thought were out of reach.
